Our most fitted system, 4.4kW with ten 440W panels, is a fixed £6,495 fully installed with scaffolding and 0% VAT. Adding a 5.8kWh battery takes it to £9,295. Government MCS data for 2025/26 puts the typical cost at about £1,550 to £1,600 per kW.
How much will solar panels save me?
A 4.4kW system in the Midlands makes around 4,300kWh a year. At the current 26.32p price cap and 12p for export, most homes save £650 to £850 a year, more with a battery and a time of use tariff. Our calculator works it out for your town and roof.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not. Panels on a house roof are permitted development in England as long as they stick out no more than 200mm and do not go above the ridge. Listed buildings, and front roofs facing a road in conservation areas, are the main exceptions. We check before we quote.
How long does installation take?
Most homes take one day for panels and one more if a battery is being fitted on a different wall. Scaffolding goes up a day or two before and comes down after. The whole process from quote to switch on is usually four to six weeks.
Is there a grant for solar panels?
Households on lower incomes in homes rated EPC D to G may qualify for fully funded solar through the Warm Homes: Local Grant, run by councils. Everyone else benefits from 0% VAT on solar and batteries until 31 March 2027. We will tell you honestly if a grant route looks better for you.
Who actually installs the panels?
Our own employed installers and electricians. We do not subcontract roofs to whoever is free that week, which is why the team that turns up knows the survey notes and the fixed price.
