About Kingsmead Solar in one line: we are an MCS certified installer of solar panels, home batteries and EV chargers for homes and businesses across England. We survey, design and install every system with our own employed teams, give you one fixed written price, and look after the system for years after it goes live.
Why we are called Kingsmead
Mead is the Old English word for a meadow, and Kingsmead is a name you will find on street signs, school gates and village greens across England. We chose it because it sounds like the places we work: ordinary English towns and the fields between them, not a tech brand or a call centre. The sun over the roof ridge in our logo is the whole job in one picture.
We liked that. A good solar installation is the same kind of thing: built on solid ground, facing the sky, and still doing its job decades later. We would rather be the firm people trust for a long time than the one with the loudest advert.
Our own teams, not subcontractors
Much of the solar industry sells systems and passes the installation to whichever subcontractor is free that week. We do not. The surveyors, roofers and electricians who work on your home are employed and trained by us. That matters for three reasons:
- Consistency: every team fits to the same methods, the same parts and the same checklist.
- Accountability: if something is not right, it is our people and our problem to fix, not a dispute between companies.
- Knowledge: our teams fit panels, batteries and chargers every week and know the kit inside out.
How we work
We keep the process simple and honest.
- A free survey first. In person, or remotely using your photos and satellite imagery. No deposit until it is done.
- One fixed written price. It only changes if the roof turns out not to be as described, and we agree any change with you first.
- Straight answers. If your roof is badly shaded or faces north, we will tell you solar is not worth it rather than sell it anyway.
- We do the paperwork. Network operator registration, MCS certificate and help setting up your export tariff.
- We stay in touch. An aftercare line, remote monitoring checks and a 10-year insurance-backed workmanship warranty.

Our standards
We are certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), the quality standard for small-scale renewables, and a member of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC), which protects your deposit, gives you a 14-day cooling-off period and offers independent dispute resolution. Every electrical installation is tested and certified to the wiring regulations. We fit panels from tier one manufacturers and inverters and batteries from established brands with long warranties.
